Special services, musical performances and other events coming up at area houses of worship:


  • Destined To Win Ministries, 4368 Lee Street, Ayden, will have a worship service at 4 p.m. Sunday. Refreshments will follow.
  • Last Days Harvest Church 3192 E. 10th St., will celebrate its pastor’s anniversary with services at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday-Feb. 6 and at 4 p.m. Feb. 7. Guests include: Pastor Donnie Carr and Lloyd’s Chapel Church, Superintendent Clarence Freeman and Trueway Holiness Church, Pastor Wilbert Jackson and Pentecostal Temple Church and Bishop Leroy J.   • Mount Zion Holy Church, 3325 Ayden Golf Club Road, Winterville, will have Holy Union services at 7:30 p.m. through Sunday. Guests include Pastor Towanda Britt and Mount Sinai Holiness Church and Pastor Joel Stokes and True Heart Holiness Church.
  • New Beginnings Deliverance Center, 217 Queen Drive, will host Apostle Thomas E. Smith and Devout Praise Holy Church of Grimesland at 7:30 p.m. Friday as part of Pastor Mary V. Sheppard’s anniversary celebration.
  • New Vision Faith Ministries, 102 Eastbrook Drive will celebrate family day at 10 a.m. Sunday.
  • Next Generation Church, 401 N. Railroad St., Winterville, will have a Communion service at 11 a.m. Sunday.
  • St. Mary Missionary Baptist Church, 1251 Fleming School Road, will host a seniors fellowship at 11 a.m. Feb. 10. The guest speaker will be Deacon Clifton Carney.
  • Waterside Free Will Baptist Church, 4631 Moye-Turnage Road, Farmville, will host services at 7:30 p.m. Friday and 3 p.m. Feb. 7 as part of its pastor’s appreciation services. Guests include Bishop Roderick Best and Pastor Arnold D. Darden and St. Paul and Moye’s Chapel churches.
  • White Oak Missionary Baptist Church, 4525 Mobley’s Bridge Road, Grimesland, will have an early worship service at 10 a.m. Sunday. Minister Billy Barrett will speak.


  • Covenant Church, 4005 Corey Road, will host the annual Pursue the Passion Women’s Conference from 7-9 p.m. Feb 19 and from 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Feb. 20 with featured speaker Margaret Feinberg and worship leader Christy Nockels.   • Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 3505 S. Walnut St., Farmville will host its annual pancake supper from 5-7:30 p.m. Feb. 9. A $5 donation is requested for take-out and $7 for eat in pancakes and sausage. Proceeds will benefit the Outreach Ministry of the church to include Food for the Poor in Haiti and the local soup kitchen. Call 753-3737. The church’s men’s fellowship will serve breakfast at 9 a.m. Feb. 7. Eggs, ham, sausage, grits, cheese biscuits and a beverage will be served. Proceeds will benefit Episcopal Trinity Center at Salter Path. The Community Celebration of the Imposition of Ashes will be held at 7 p.m. Feb. 10.
  • Grifton United Methodist Church, 207 McCrae Street, Grifton, will host a Methodist Men’s pancake supper from 4:30-7:30 p.m. Friday and from 7:30-10:30 a.m. Feb. 6. Cost is $7 for all-you-can-eat pancakes, sausage, coffee, tea or milk. Eat in or take out. Contact Ervin Gray at 524-4148.
  • Mount Carmel Christian Church, 980 Brompton Lane, will host the Spice of Life Tours 2016 Women’s Conference from 1-5 p.m. Feb. 6.   • Unity Free Will Baptist Church, 4301 Charles Blvd., will celebrate the grand opening of its new location this weekend. Today’s events, scheduled from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., include a meet and greet, facility tours, refreshments and inflatable attractions for children. A worship service will be held at 10 a.m. Sunday.


  • Gold Point Christian Church, 20201 N.C. 903, Robersonville, will host a Singspiration with Roy Lewis at 6:30 p.m. Sunday. Refreshments will follow. There is no admission charge; an offering will be accepted.
  • Kings Crossroads Free Will Baptist Church, 2080 Seven Pines Road, will host the musical group Southern Raised in concert at 7 p.m. Sunday.
