Costello inducted into McKimmon Hall of Fame

Jo Costello of Pitt County was among 25 women inducted into the Dr. Jane S. McKimmon Hall of Fame as the North Carolina Family and Consumer Sciences celebrated 100 years of service.

McKimmon was the first state home demonstration agent for the N.C. Agricultural Extension Service. The ceremony was held at the McKimmon Center at N.C. State University.

Joining Costello for the ceremony were her daughter, Betsy Small of Newport News, Va.; Juanita Nobles, Lena Darden, Theresa Sawyer and Margaret Whaley of the Pitt County Extension and Committee Association; and Mitch Smith, director of the Pitt County Cooperative Extension Service.
